An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Scottish SPCA, Scotland's only all animal service, to join the Fundraising and Income Generation Department as a Philanthropy Manager. 

 

As a key member of the fundraising team, the Philanthropy Manager will play a key role in diversifying our income by implementing our new ways of working with major donors and high net worth individuals.

 

You will steward supporters, and contribute to the achievement of growing financial targets in this area. Together with the Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy you will develop an enhanced stewardship plan and contribute to our new philanthropy strategy aligned to our vision, mission and values engaging more people who want to support the work of the Scottish SPCA.

 

Job requirements:

  • Model the Society’s values – Commitment, Compassionate, Collaborative, Adaptable, Professional and Expert.
  • Work with the Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy and department Director to contribute to the SSPCA fundraising strategy in relation to philanthropy.
  • Deliver on agreed targets for our annual major donor strategies.
  • Manage an agreed income and expenditure budget for philanthropy and major donors.
  • Develop engaging stewardship journeys for all major donor prospects and donors and ensure this is bespoke to their needs and wants, to ensure every supporter feels valued (produce events, newsletters, letters)
  • Plan, develop and oversee major donor fundraising and cultivation events in conjunction with the Special Events Lead.
  • Ensure the meticulous recording of all data relating to major donors and philanthropic individuals on our database to ensure compliance with GDPR, and a great supporter experience.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to ensure that communications to major donors are on brand and are bespoke.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other areas of fundraising, to ensure our stewardship and exposure to major donors and high net worth individuals is fully maximised.
  • Facilitate cross-stream collaboration, working with colleagues where there is crossover, and ensure we give the donors the best experience possible and obtain the best results for the organisation.
  • Proactively seek to build and maintain an understanding of key activities within the organisation and how this might inform the wider major donor strategy.
  • Work with volunteers and directors/board members to map and engage with potential donors in their networks.Provide support and guidance to senior colleagues and Trustees with the management of high value and corporate relationships and ensure key relationships are stewarded by the most appropriate member of the SSPCA staff or board.
  • Ensure supporters are kept up to date with our work and projects they may have supported.
  • Build effective and appropriate relationships with suppliers in adherence with our procurement policies, and ensuring other due diligence including assurances on data security, service level agreements and product quality are met.
  • Work with the Supporter Experience team to ensure all major donors are flagged from the database, and are passed on to be stewarded.
  • To ensure compliance with data protection, fundraising codes of practice and SSPCA codes of practice.
  • Ensure due diligence is undertaken when accepting large donations from supporters.
  • Develop a major donor prospecting pipeline with the help of third party wealth screening agencies using our database.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

 

Applicants should be able to demonstrable experience in a philanthropy role including a wider understanding of other fundraising roles - Trust/Corporate/Legacy;  have a proven track record of success in managing and achieving five and six figure major gifts targets; experience managing relationships with high net worth individuals; and experience of network mapping, pipeline planning and stewarding prospect major donors.

The position is full-time, 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, 35 hours a week, with occasional evening and weekend work as required.

 

Applicants must be able to commute to Dunfermline as required. Home working and travel will also be required as part of the role therefore a full UK manual driving licence is essential.
