We’re the Scottish SPCA. Scotland’s all animal emergency service.

Rescue is the start of a journey through rehabilitation to release or rehoming. It means helping struggling owners. It means preventing emergency rescues through education. And it’s always relentless. Because the rescues never stop.

The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s animal welfare charity, is seeking to recruit a Relief Animal Care Assistant for employment at its Edinburgh Animal Rescue & Rehoming Centre in Balerno.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the thousands of abused, abandoned and injured animals rescued by the Scottish SPCA each year.  Previous practical experience working with animals (including equine, dogs and domestic animals) in a similar setting, a keen interest in animal welfare and excellent customer care skills are essential. Preferably candidates will also have a full UK manual driving licence and ideally an animal care qualification.

Standard hours are 8.30am to 4.45pm, working 2 days out of 14 on a rota basis to include weekends - additional hours may be available to cover holiday, maternity and sickness as required.
