The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s animal welfare charity, is seeking to recruit a Head Nurse to work at its Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire & West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centres.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Scotland’s animal welfare champions and make a real difference to the lives of the thousands of abused, abandoned and injured animals rescued by the Scottish SPCA each year.
The Head Nurse will lead the clinic animal nursing team in the West of Scotland, providing and promoting a high standard of customer service and clinical care whilst upholding animal welfare and supporting Veterinary Surgeons. They will also be responsible for providing supportive care of animals receiving treatment as part of the clinical nursing team within the Veterinary Department, including the monitoring of animals undergoing surgical procedures and in-patients. They will assist the Veterinary Surgeons in the diagnosis, treatment and care of sick or injured animals. They will line manage the Nursing Team and motivate excellence in the provision of Veterinary Services to the Scottish SPCA.
Candidates should be a qualified RVN with a minimum 3 years’ full time experience. Excellent customer care and communication skills are essential as well as sound knowledge and practical experience working with animals. Candidates must be competent leading and supporting a team and be able to plan and organise their own workload as well as direct the work of others.
Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, working 10 days out of 14 to include weekend work and backshifts on a rota basis.
