The Scottish SPCA, Scotland’s animal welfare charity, is seeking to recruit a permanent (part time) and temporary (full or part time) Veterinary Surgeon to join our team providing care for disadvantaged furred, feathered and scaled animals looking for new homes. These roles are based in our our purpose-built facilities in Glasgow and would suit someone who enjoys surgery.
 
The full-time temporary role will be for a minimum of 7 months with the possibilty of being extended to 12 months.  Part time hours can be discussed at interview. The full time hours of work for the temporary position are 37.5 hours per week, between 8am and 5pm, although your start and finishing times may vary due to the volume and number of patients being cared for, 10 days out of 14 on a group rota, to include occasional weekend work.  
 
The permanent role will work 22.5 hours per week, between 8am and 5pm, although your start and finishing times may vary due to the volume and number of patients being cared for, 6 days out of 14 on a group rota, to include occasional weekend work.
 
On call duties are shared across the Vet team.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the thousands of abused, abandoned and injured animals rescued by the Scottish SPCA each year.

We have a good range of equipment including ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, modern dental equipment and in-house blood testing. We are sevoflurane throughout.
